About us

The Pannonia American-Hungarian Club was founded on November 17th. 1950 in Bridgeport Ct. The founders’ objectives were:

To connect Hungarian-Americans with similar interest and develop a sense of community, in the spirit of the Hungarian intellectual and moral principles;

To support all non-political Hungarian causes;

To assist the newly arrived immigrants in adjusting to their new circumstances in order to make the transition easier and also to promote good citizenship in the "new country".

To visit and help out fellow community members who fell ill, and provide support in their time of need.

The club is devoted to assist talented and outstanding Hungarian-American Students in the pursuit of their studies by awarding annual scholarships.”

Presently:

We are a non profit organization that organizes and supports a number of cultural and community events. Our annual programs are the “Café Budapest Ball”, the commemoration of the 1848 revolution, the summer Dinner-Dance at Fairfield Beach, and the Children’s Christmas program. We also assist and aid concerts, cultural and social events working with other Hungarian-American organizations in our vicinity.

The club also offers scholarships and financial assistance to young Hungarian- Americans interested in attending Higher education or summer camp in Hungary, provided they participate in the organizations cultural events in CT. In addition, the Pannonia Club supports the Hungarian Scouts Association’s Highly successful scholarship programs. One of these enables students between the ages of 12 and 17 to go to school in Hungary for a year. Through an other program students over 18 years of age spend a year at the Balassi Balint Institute in Budapest, improving their knowledge of the language as well as studying Hungarian history,geography, literature,art and folklore.
